my definition of fashion lately

b.a.s.i.c.s. + amazing jewelry ... I supposed this is nothing new when it comes to my style. I generally opt for solids, then accent my look with a killer adornment, shoe, scarf, or bag.

lately I have been introducing more color in my fashion diet, which gets me a little excited!

check out this neon coral basic I just bought
I am thinking to pair it with  MILO B jewels to give it that extra UMPH!

AND who doesn't LOVE a basic white tee -- another purchase..
Another MILO B accessory to spruce it up

women inspire

Women are interesting creatures and have inspired so many facets of our lives, whether through art - culture - perspective- etc. I had a discussion with a woman in her 60s a few year ago. She said how repulsed she was by marilyn monroe aka norma jean. too flashy, too into men, too out there.  Honestly, it took every fiber in my body to keep my mouth shut.. i am opinionated.. nothing new there..

With elizabeth taylor's recent passing, I got to thinking of her public persona  - married a gaziliion times, husband stealing from her best friend.. but I also got to thinking about her gorgeous gazing eyes, her acting ability in a time when acting wasn't a serious medium as it is today, her extensive
support to the AIDS community... and I thought about those before her.. jean harlow, marilyn, betty page, etc.

Then, I thought of that conversation that I had with that woman and began to feel sorry for her..  these women were INFLUENTIONAL - was she threatened by their confidence to express themselves in a time where that wasn't socially exceptable?

Now we marry later, put off having children, focus on self satisfaction -- in a healthy way, make our own money, find our own paths, explore our own interests, tell our own stories, love when its right.. not just because we need to be married to 'survive', but because we want to engage in a fufilling relationship !
with my thoughts being said, I admire elizabeth taylor and all the ladies before her.. before photoshop.. these were the real natural beautiful women that have defined our zeitgeist.. and for that I AM THANKFUL

never have enough of !

items in my closet i can never have enough of:

1. white tank top - stapless, racer, spaghetti, wife beater, etc.. wear alone, layer it up - looks GREAT with any piece of jewelry.. preferrably MILO B jewelry :)
2. swim suits - i think I just purchased a total of 5 new bottoms and 3 new tops (mix and match) surprisingly i live in a landlocked area (for now)
3. scarves - silk skinny narrow ones for the neck/waist/hair, light linen ones in a gorgeous green shade, big wide ones to wear on chilly evenings at dinner
4. necklaces and bracelets - thankfully i create jewels now.. so anything piece i imagine i create to snazz up any ordinary look... MOST of the time i build my outfit around a rad necklace or bracelet!
5. denim - so many different styles: skinny, flare, high waist, low waist, colored dyes (yellow my fav), dressey, distressed.. there is reason i have more than i can count
6. the denim jacket - i own 6 different styles - dark & fitted, medium wash & boxy, medium wash & stretchy, light & cropped, vintage inspired calvin klein (clearance purchase over 10 yrs ago!), and of course a white denim (mine w/ a little sangria stain !)
7. the tan 'shoe' - platform, heeled, boots, strappy, clog, peep toe, flippy, gladiator, flats - WHATEVER style, it will enlongate those gorgeous glams ladies! not to mention tan goes with every single dingle color in the my wardrobe!
8. black pants - oh boy here we go: high waisted + wide leg, high waisted + flared, skinny + stretchy with pockets, skinny + stretchy no pockets, boot cut, side zippered flared, black denim, and any + all lengths of leggings
9. cardigans - printed, solids, long, waist, cropped, cable, knit, jersey, buttoned, belted, swing - love them all
10. summer dresses - if i purchase one type of garment style the most, its the dress. there is something so feminine about wearing a one... i love to throw one on in the summer with a pair of broken in flippies, run errands, have lunch with my husband, take a walk outside - the warm breeze against my legs, JUST LOVE IT!! any style, every style - short, maxi, full, fitted, printed, solid with a great necklace or waist belt.

From LA TIMES :: Men's Spring Fashion

After picking up a GQ recently, I was suprised at the first 100 pages of ads for fashion! But here again I find men's fashion dominating another source.. LA TIMES "Brand X Daily"
LA-brx-0302-mensfashion-7

Kevin Carney, Mohawk General Store Says:

Spring trends: “It's moving beyond everyone looking like a lumberjack. Shirting [of the button-down variety] is the new T-shirt. So Gitman Bros. does really great shirting, and we've done really well with it. There's a lot of really great patterns and textures that they're coming out with.”
Local brands to watch: “We work with this really great brand called Industry of All Nations. For spring, [they have] some really great colored denim — everything is hand-woven, selvedge, naturally dyed, really beautiful slim-fitting jeans. Their espadrilles [shoes] are completely biodegradable. We couldn't keep them in stock last year.”
One item every guy needs: “I think every man should have a really nice basic pair of shoes that aren't sneakers. A leather sole, a nice brogue. We have a shoe called the Naval; it's pretty versatile. You'll look a little dressier than you would in a pair of sneakers. A good pair of shoes, if you take care of them, they can last forever.”
